Sixx:A.M is a rock band founded by Nikki Sixx who was also known for being the lead guitarist for Motley Crue. Nikki is among the most notable figures in the rock world.

Nikki has seen everything in life. He life was typical of the rockstars living in the 70s and 80s filled with adventure, tragedies, highs and lows and anything else you can think of.

Motley Crue while being adored by several fans was also heavily criticized for causing vandalism and excessive alcoh*l and dr*g abuse. Nikki Sixx was the only member that remained with Motley Crue from the beginning till the end despite several lineup changes.

His autobiography The Hero*n Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star talks in detail about his struggles with hero*n.

Alcohol, acidc*caine… they were just affairs. When I met hero*n it was true love.

He overdosed on hero*n several times in his life. One time when it happened, Nikki was rushed to the hospital. He was almost dead in the ambulance when the doctor gave him two shots of adrenaline to keep his heart pumping.

Next day, Nikki left the hospital shirtless and was recognized by fans who gave him a lift.

Heroin nearly killed me. As a matter of fact, it did. From the outside looking in, I was living the dream. But in reality, I was in the throes of a disease I couldn’t control, addicted to heroin.

Life is Beautiful

The song is based on Nikki’s life experiences and all that he had to go through in order to realize that life is indeed beautiful. He talks about how it took a funeral to make him feel alive.

“Will you swear on your life, that no one will cry at my funeral”, is a quote from Sixx’s former roommate and co-lead guitarist from RattRobbin Crosby. Robbin passed away due to AIDS after using a dirty needle to pass up hero*n.

It was when he nearly died that he realized the value of life. Nikki left dr*gs and has been living a clean life as of now.

Life is beautiful is perhaps the most popular song by Sixx:A.M. This is the underlying story behind the song. Let me know what you all think about it in the comments.
