The song Scars by Papa Roach is the second single from the album ‘Getting Away with Murder’. It is one of their most successful songs and was released on 23rd May 2005.

The song ‘Scars’ is about trying to help someone who doesn’t want you to help them as told by Shaddix. Shaddix commented upon the inspiration behind the song saying that it was about a time when he ran into a friend who was having a really hard time. Shaddix couldn’t do anything to fix his friend’s pain but he tried his best to do so. He ended up having stitches that night and went to the hospital.

I was out on the road and I ran into a friend that I know from a long time ago. I was in Vegas and he just was having a really hard time and I’m a kind of person that like carries the weight of the world on my shoulders, you know if someone around me is having a bad day I’m always like I’m having a bad day instantly. This song was just like that breaking point of like you know ‘I can’t help you fix yourself, but at least I can say I tried’. It drove me to the point that night like later that night I just flipped out and got into a fight with a trash can’. Its kinda funny. I just ended in the hospital with like 11 staples in my head later that night. That song was stemmed from like a really emotional night in Vegas.
