In this article, we look at 9 anime series that are worth watching. The order of the animes does not represent ranking of any sort. Some animes widely considered to be really good like One Piece, Bleach, Steins Gate, My Hero Academia etc may not be present because I have not watched them till now and I can’t comment much upon them. However, these are a few animes that I suggest people to watch. I recommend that people don’t click on the video links on the pictures since it could lead to people getting spoilers if they haven’t watched these series till now.
1. Naruto (including Naruto Shippuden)
Written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto
Story: Naruto is a young boy who aims to become a ninja. Naruto trains more and more, learning new techniques each day to become stronger and protect his village.
Description: Large number of episodes extending upto more than 700 including Naruto Shippuden. Large number of characters and extemely good fighting scenes with characters having varied skillsets. Filled with exciting action scenes and a really well developed story line
2. Dragon Ball Z
Written by Takao Koyama(chief writer), Atsushi Maekawa, Aya Matsui, Hiroshi Toda, Katsuyuki Sumisawa, Keiji Terui, Masashi Kubola, Reiko Yoshida, Satoru Akahori, Sumio Uetake, Toshiki Inoue and Yoshiyuki Suga
Story: Goku is a saiyan who comes to the earth and is taken care of by Master Roshi. Goku and the Z warriors must protect the people from villains who create havoc on the planet.
Description: Large number of episodes upto 291 not including Dragon Ball. Extremely good fighting scenes. Good lessons can be learnt from the characters. Fight scenes can stretch a little long and one may find the story to not be as interesting as expected to be. Nevertheless, an anime that one should watch.
3. Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Created by Yoshiro Togashi. Hunter X Hunter (2011) is an action packed anime with a lot of adventure.
Story: Gon Freecs sets out on a journey to achieve his goal. He encounters a number of challenges and overcomes them along with his friends.
Description: A good adventurous plot and a great story line. Wide range of characters. Holds the interest of the viewers. A good variation in the story with change in each season. Good fighting scenes too. Large number of episodes upto 148.
4. Darker than Black
Created and directed by Tensai Okamura and animated by Bones.
Story: Hei, a contractor working for a Syndicate undertakes several missions while trying to fulfill his purpose.
Description: A unique story line filled with really good action moments. Short but captivating fight scenes. Overall, a really good anime to watch. The anime is moderate in length with 25 episodes in season 1 and 12 episodes in season 2.
5. Code Geass
Created by Sunrise, directed by Gorō Taniguchi and written by Ichirō Ōkouchi.
Story: Brittania attacks Japan and gains control of it. Lelouch has an ambition of freeing Japan from the crutches of Britannia.
Description: Good story line and great action scenes. Overall, a really entertaining anime to watch. Total episodes extend upto about 50.
6. Death Note
Written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata.
Story: Light Yagami, a highly intelligent lad discovers something unusual. His discovery turns out to be something he never thought it would turn out to be.
Description: A thrilling story line with a lot of suspense. Total episodes are about 37.
7. Attack On Titan
Written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama.
Story: The anime is based on people living within giant walls to protect them from giant creatures called Titans that feed on humans. Eren Jaegar along with his foster sister Mikasa Ackerman decide to join the forces to fight the Titans.
Description: Really captivating action scenes. Good story line. Overall, quite entertaining. Total of 59 episodes till now and still running.
8. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Written by Hiroshi Onogi and directed by Yasuhiro Irie.
Story: Edward and Alphonse Elric are brothers who are alchemists. Alchemy is a science using which matter can be transformed from one form to another. Edward and Alphonse set out on a journey to achieve their goals.
Description: Extremely well crafted story line with large amount of suspense. Action packed anime with great fighting scenes. Total of 64 episodes for brotherhood series.
9. Tokyo Ghoul
Written and illustrated by Sui Ishida
Story: Ghouls are creatures that feed on human beings. Ghouls are much stronger than humans and have kagune a weapon which they use mainly in combat. Kaneki is a young school going boy whose life is completely changed due to an ordeal that occurs in his life.
Description: Good story line, great action and fighting scenes. A really nice anime to watch. Total episodes extend upto 24 including the 1st two seasons. The 3rd season in still running.
